REAGEN™ Zilpaterol Strip Test kit for urine is a rapid one-step qualitative lateral flow assay designed to detect trace level of zilpaterol residues in bovine and swine urine.

Mechanism of reaction
The REAGEN™ Zilpaterol Strip Test Kit for Urine uses a competitive colloidal gold based format. A test strip containing colloidal gold particles coated with anti-zilpaterol antibodies are added with the arrows pointing downward into the urine sample (200 μL) and allowed to flow up the strip for 10 minutes by capillary action. The anti-zilpaterol antibodies on the gold particles engage with any Zilpaterol present in the bovine urine. Any gold particles that are not complexed with zilpaterol present in the urine will bind to the zilpaterol imprinted at the Test line (T-line), forming a signal (red line) at that position. If the Anti-zilpaterol antibodies on the gold particles have engaged with zilpaterol present in the urine, the gold particle will flow past the T-line and reach the Control line (C-line). For visual interpretation of the test results, T-line signal intensity that is stronger or equal to the signal at the C-line indicates a negative result. Signal at the T-line which is less intense than the C-line indicates the presence of trace levels of zilpaterol in the urine sample (≥3-5 ppb).
