CPI Plastics signs U.S. distributor for wood-alternative products
Mississauga, Ont.-based CPI Plastics Group Ltd., has signed on a distributor to sell its decking, fencing and railing products to big box stores, independent retailers and building customers in the U.S.
CPI's exclusive distribution agreement with Universal Forest Products Inc., in Grand Rapids, Mich., will make the firm's Eon product line, billed as a wood-alternative for outdoor living needs, easily available south of the border.
"The distribution deal is a landmark agreement for CPI," said Ronald Mitchell, president of the CPI Plastics Group. "In Eon, Universal gains a dependable and unmatched wood-alternative product that complements other product lines, while Eon will benefit from Universal's very strong relationship with the Home Depot and the independent dealer network throughout the U.S."
Universal Forest Products manufactures and distributes wood and wood-alternative products in the U.S., and has 100 facilities across the country.
CPI's Eon product line includes decking, fencing, railing, as well as spa cladding and accessories. The decking system includes deck boards, cladding, a wing clip fastening system, and a fast and easy-to-install railing system.
Available in six colours, Eon products have the look-and-feel of natural wood, but because they don't contain organic materials, are less vulnerable to the elements, according to CPI. This means no splitting, warping, fading and cracking, the company said.
